    Corporate Technology professionals make a significant contribution to the companies' business goals through the effective delivery of foundational services. These services include setting technology direction, project management analysis, system architecture, software development and the provision of operational support services for various Corporate business units.


    Position Overview:


    Corporate Technology at GWL is working with multiple business partners in defining strategies, creating Business and Technology roadmaps to enable business partners and realize departmental goals. A Consulting Architect – CoOp is required to work as part of the Corporate Business and Systems Architecture team to create strategies and roadmaps aligned to Organizational strategic direction.


    Learning Goals/Objectives:


    At the end of a four-month placement at Great West Life, the individual will have gained experience in strategizing, road-mapping and matured his/her consulting skills. These skills will include interviewing business individuals to understand their priorities, guiding business on solutions and prioritizing initiatives to create roadmaps that provide the optimal return on investments.


    Qualifications and Competencies

    • Proven Analysis skills
    • Proficient in MS PowerPoint, MS Excel and comfortable with other applications in the MS Office suite
    • Knowledge of strategy techniques and exposure to road-mapping exercises.
    • Knowledge of Architecture Methodologies and Frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, etc.)
    • Knowledge of Enterprise/Corporate structures
    • Knowledge of Insurance industry
    • Knowledge of Technology platforms and interested in / has exposure to Artificial Intelligence (Robotics, Machine Learning, etc.), Data Science and Big Data.
    • Knowledge of project methodologies – waterfall, agile
    • Familiarity with Cloud Computing Technologies: Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills 
    • Ability to work under the pressure of a constrained delivery date
    • Team player with strong collaborative approach and ability to work independently with minimal oversight
